Macro Ratios

I thought it would be interesting to see the ratios side by side. 1:1 is life size representation on the film plane, 1:2 is half life size, etc. I used the Canon 5D macro kit and a hot light. The lens has marks for each ratio, so I just set it and moved out until the orange became in focus. Now I would like to go beyond 1:1.

Good thinkin'. Nice to see the differences there. I actually like your 1:1 here more than the one in critique. Nice composition, color, and texture.

cool stuff. I like your experimentation, 1:1 is good...but i like the 1:2 for a nice overall subject.

this is a great idea to do this. i like this orange a little better than the other one, actually. you're 1:5 is looking like the commercial kids might have some competition. hahah

Thanks for this post, Angie. For those of us not taking macro (but wishing we could...maybe) it's very informative after hearing about the ratios all the time. Nice looking orange, too.
