Baby Mockingbirds

My mom and I accidentally evicted these birds when we were cutting out some bushes. We propped them up in the corner of the porch with their branches and they are doing fine.

Football

Football's more fun at night, but this was a paying job and besides the changing light, it was pretty fun. Cody Moran #70 and Ortiz #8.

Restoration - Part 1

This is a photo of Gerardo as a mad little boy. :o) Anyway I have been messing with this image for 2 years trying to fix it and this is what I've ended up with. There are 4 more pictures like this of his siblings and mom to fix yet. I fixed a photo of his grandfather about a year ago and I will post that soon.

Apple

This is an apple from the tree in our back yard. It was so full the branches were hanging on the ground. This is before they were ripe and I liked the light on it. Now they are ready and are the most delicious apples I've ever eaten.

My First Payment as a Photographer!

I tried my hand at engagement photos this week and Martha graciously allowed me to put up the check on here. Now, before anyone gets upset that I only charged $50, keep in mind I am not a portrait photographer and will not be making prints or anything, just a CD.

Flamingo

I was able to spend some time with the zoo's photographer, Tom Gillespie on Friday. He gave me some tips and tricks he uses to make really nice zoo pictures. Here's one I did using the advice he gave me.

Something Different

Here's something a little different from me. I went on a photo safari one evening and thought I'd try being a little artsy. Not sure how I feel about it.

Tooth Fish

I photographed this fish in a tank at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. I didn't even noticed the teeth until I was editing my photos. I didn't touch this image, not even a levels adjustment. I grin everytime I look at this image.
P.S. This is a Pacu, the vegetarian cousin to the Pirhana.

Vision Illustrations

These are two photographs I took, smudged them into illustrations in Photoshop and then added the correct degree of their angles of vision. I learned a lot about Photoshop doing this project.

Macro Baleen

This is a macro 1:1 shot of whale baleen. (It was stinky) I used a Nikon D2x and 105mm lens with extension ring. It was fun doing some macro again.

Smudge Tool

Today I learned to use the smudge tool to make a photo look like an illustration. This was my first try.

Construction

My current internship is at the College of Veterinary Medicine at NC State. They are doing a lot of construction and building a new hospital.
